Flying Dutchman Crewmember

One mould -- two outcomes

This was inspired by The Pirates of the Carribean Flying Dutchman crew. After being saved from death by Davy Jones, the crew members must serve 100 years on the Dutchman. During this time they slowly fuse with the ship and ocean, and eventually forget who they are. I recreated this concept with a new female character that fused with a coral reef. One outcome is lush and fruitful, and the other is it's dead counterpart. I also wanted to shine a light on the environmental issues this presents to raise awareness for our dying reefs.

This is a half-head sculpt that I sculpted using WED clay. Then I made a mold of it with plaster and created a silicone cast from that. I painted it and added final art finishes to fully realise the character.
